1. Who provides PDF Expert

PDF Expert is provided by Shenzhen Caractiv Tech Company Limited, referred to as “Caractiv”, “we”, “us”, or “our”. These terms form an agreement between you and Caractiv. By downloading or using PDF Expert, you agree to these terms. If you use it for an organization, you must have authority to accept them for that organization.

You must have legal capacity to enter this agreement, or use the app with the approval and supervision of a parent or legal guardian where permitted by law. Purchases also require authorization from the relevant store account holder.

2. App license and platform terms

Apple devices: The license for the App Store version is governed by Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (EULA). These terms supplement that license for our services; they do not replace it. If a provision conflicts with the Standard EULA or the applicable Apple usage rules, those license and usage rules prevail for the Apple version.

Android and APK versions: Caractiv grants you a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to install and use the app on compatible devices you own or control, subject to these terms and any applicable Google Play terms. We retain rights not expressly granted. Open source components remain subject to their respective licenses, available in the app’s license notices.

You may not sell or sublicense the app, distribute modified copies, bypass access controls or paid feature restrictions, interfere with its security, or reverse engineer it, except where applicable law or an open source license permits this. Download APK files only from our official download link. Installing an APK does not itself grant Pro access or establish an alternative payment arrangement.

3. Your documents and permitted use

You keep ownership of your documents, annotations, images, signatures, and other content. You must have the rights and permissions needed to process or share them. When you request cloud conversion, you authorize us and the conversion provider to process the selected file only as needed to provide that service and as described in the Privacy Policy.

Do not use the app to infringe rights, impersonate someone, forge signatures, distribute unlawful material, defeat document restrictions without authorization, overload services, or violate applicable laws. A signature placed in a PDF does not by itself verify identity, establish consent, or guarantee that a document meets a particular legal signature standard.

Keep independent backups of important originals. Check exported files, OCR text, conversions, covered text, and signatures before relying on or distributing them. A visual cover over text is not a guarantee that underlying information has been securely removed. Results can vary with source quality and document structure. PDF Expert is not a legal, financial, medical, or archival certification service.

4. Free features, Pro, and usage limits

The free version includes advertising and may apply usage quotas or require Pro for certain tools. Where available, you may choose to watch a rewarded advertisement for an additional use of an eligible metered feature. Rewarded ads do not unlock every Pro feature. Active Pro access removes in-app advertising.

Cloud conversion has a limited free allowance and Pro fair-use limits. File-size limits, supported formats, platform capabilities, quotas, and service availability are shown in the app and may change for operational, security, or cost reasons. Pro does not promise unlimited cloud processing. We will provide notice of material changes affecting an existing paid subscription where required by law or store rules.

5. Subscriptions, trials, and billing

PDF Expert offers weekly and annual Pro subscriptions where available. The purchase screen and store confirmation show the current price, billing period, any trial or introductory offer, and renewal terms before you confirm. Prices, taxes, currencies, eligibility, and offers may vary by region and store. No trial or offer is guaranteed unless displayed for your purchase.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Play account through the applicable store. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through that store before its renewal deadline. If a free trial is offered, it converts to the paid subscription shown at purchase unless you cancel in time. For an Apple trial or discounted subscription, cancel at least 24 hours before the offer ends to avoid the next charge.

Manage or cancel through your device’s subscription settings: Apple subscription instructions or Google Play subscription instructions. Uninstalling the app or deleting local data does not cancel a subscription. Access after cancellation generally continues until the end of the paid period, subject to store policies; trial access may end sooner under the store’s rules.

Use Restore Purchases in the app to restore eligible purchases using the same store account. Transfers between Apple and Google accounts or platforms are not guaranteed. Refund requests follow the purchasing store’s procedures and applicable consumer law. Nothing here removes statutory refund or withdrawal rights. Changes to recurring prices are handled with any notice or consent required by the store and applicable law.

6. Optional cloud conversion and third parties

Most document tools process files on your device. Optional Office-to-PDF and PDF-to-Office conversion sends the file you select, including its contents and filename, to CloudConvert when you initiate a conversion and approve upload. If you choose to remember your approval, the app may rely on that saved choice for later conversions you initiate.

Before uploading, consider whether a document contains confidential, sensitive, regulated, or third-party information and whether you are permitted to send it to that provider. You can choose on-device tools instead. Cloud processing requires an internet connection and may be unavailable or fail. Cancellation may not immediately stop processing already underway.

Use of third-party services is also subject to their applicable terms, including CloudConvert’s terms, store terms, and your network provider’s agreement. Network charges may apply. Third-party websites and advertisements have their own terms and privacy practices.

7. Additional Apple provisions

Caractiv, not Apple, provides the app and its content, support, maintenance, and applicable warranties. Apple has no maintenance or support obligation. Caractiv handles product, regulatory, consumer, privacy, and intellectual property claims, including investigating, defending, settling, and resolving infringement claims.

If the app breaches an applicable warranty, notify Apple for a refund of its purchase price. To the extent law allows, Apple has no other warranty responsibility; remaining warranty-related claims are Caractiv’s responsibility. Statutory rights remain intact.

You must comply with Apple’s usage rules and applicable third-party agreements. You represent that you are not in a US-embargoed country or a country designated by the US as supporting terrorism, and are not on a US restricted-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce applicable EULA provisions as third-party beneficiaries.

The Standard EULA governs permitted Apple-device use, including applicable Family Sharing and volume-purchase rights.

8. Availability, warranties, and responsibility

We aim to provide a reliable service, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free OCR or conversion, compatibility with every PDF, or recovery of lost content. Except for warranties and consumer guarantees that law does not permit us to exclude, the app and services are provided as available without additional guarantees of accuracy or suitability for a particular purpose.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app. This does not exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including applicable liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or mandatory consumer and data-protection rights. Apple-version license matters remain subject to the Standard EULA.

9. Changes and termination

We may update the app and these terms as the service or law changes. The effective date identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated where required. Changes do not retrospectively remove rights you have already acquired.

You can stop using the app at any time. We may restrict cloud services or terminate the Android license for a material breach, abuse, or legal requirement, subject to notice and an opportunity to remedy where appropriate and required. The Standard EULA governs termination of the Apple license. Ending app use does not automatically cancel a store subscription.

10. Applicable law and consumer rights

These supplemental service terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, excluding conflict-of-law rules, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Courts with jurisdiction over our registered office may hear disputes. This does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections, applicable law, or the right to bring proceedings in their place of residence where the law provides that right. The Standard EULA’s own governing-law provisions apply to that license.

If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. If you have a concern, contact us so we can try to resolve it.
